Introducing the Host University

Yuanpei University of Medical Technology is the first educational institution in Taiwan to specialize in cultivating medical technology specialists since its founding in 1964. Other than specializing in a medical curriculum, the university is especially dedicated to cultivating a multicultural experience, hosting more than 200 international students from Southern-Asia and incorporating activities to help all students understand and appreciate cultural diversity. Our 2-week program is structured to provide exposure to medical topics and help students explore the possibility of a career in medicine. Classes integrate games, language learning, cultural activities, and city tours for an involved and exciting Chinese learning and cultural experience.

Summer Program Overview

The 2026 Youth Summer Program at Yuanpei University of Medical Technology offers high school students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in both Chinese language learning and introduction to various medical fields.

This 2-week program will start from July12th, 2026, and is structured to learn Chinese language and culture, with a special focus on medical terminology. In addition, the program provides exposure to medical topics and helps students explore the possibility of a career in medicine. Classes integrate hands-on experience with different medical fields both to learn practical, real life medical operation and practical language application.

Eligibility

We host high school students from ages 15-19 in our 2-week immersive learning program. Students with a strong interest in both Chinese language and culture, as well as medical sciences,
If you haven't found your direction yet and simply want to learn and gain new experiences, you are also very welcome!

Students must have a valid Passport and forms of identification. Submit information and documents through the application form.

Students do not need any prior medical or language background, all levels are welcome!

You will experience the medical profession firsthand by visiting medical facilities, taking college level courses, and participating in hands-on medical simulation, seminars, and group study sessions led by professionals.

Experience Taiwanese Culture

Experience Taiwanese Culture

Taiwan has a rich and diverse culture, a blend of Chinese, Japanese, and indigenous influences alongside its unique historical background. You may explore Taiwan from centuries-old temples to splendid modern architecture, from night market street food to fine dining, and from bustling cities to the most amazing natural landscapes. Students will experience this beautiful country through our cultural field trips and weekend excursions.

Learn a New Language

Learn a Chinese Language

As the most spoken language in the world, learning Chinese has become quite popular nowadays. Through structured courses, students can easily learn basic conversational skills, as well as medical terminology. Combined with various activities, students will practice through designed exercises or even outside of the classroom in real-life scenarios to start learning a new language.

Class Schedule

A 2-week Summer Program for youth to learn Mandarin, meet new friends, experience Taiwanese culture, get an introduction to the field of Medical Technology and explore the possibility of a career in medicine.

Morning
Language-based instruction dedicated to teaching students basic conversational vocabulary as well as specialized medical vocabulary. For example: daily life conversations, Medical Chinese, and support for strengthening AP Chinese.

Afternoon
Medical and Cultural activities help diversify our curriculum. We incorporate experiential learning, interacting with real tools to make learning fun for students.

Weekend Excursions

Weekend excursions are integral to the program, offering students real-world language practice and cultural immersion.
Each excursion is carefully planned to ensure educational value, leisure purpose and safety.

Tamsui Old Street 

Tamsui Old Street is a popular riverside area in New Taipei City. It offers local snacks, small shops, and beautiful sunset views. It is a great place for international students to relax, take photos, and experience Taiwanese culture.

Jiufen Old Town and Gold Museum
Jiufen Old Town and Gold Museum

An old mountain village on the North Coast of Taiwan. The gold rush hastened the village's development into a town, and reached its peak during the Japanese era.

Taipei 101
Taipei City Tour

Taipei 101 was the world's tallest building from 2004 until 2007, and still the tallest building in Taiwan. Shilin Night Market is often known as the largest and most famous night market in Taiwan serving classic Taiwanese foods like stinky tofu and seafood omelets.

Off-campus Excursions Disclaimer

Supervision: All excursions are supervised by experienced staff chaperones and local tour guides.

Safety Measures: Students will be briefed on safety protocols before each excursion, and medical staff will be available if needed.

Transportation: Provided by the university, ensuring safe and convenient travel to all destinations.

What to Bring: Students should pack appropriately for outdoor activities, including comfortable clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle.

US$2,500
This program fee includes tuition, materials, accommodations, and selected activities.
Additional fees may apply for optional weekend excursions.
